Returning Souls to Ethnos

Ethnic Religion for All
What is Folk Faith?

The Ethnos is the natural state of being for all people.

The Ethnos is a tapestry woven of many threads. Folk Faith is part of what makes each human ethnic group special & unique. We have been told that our indigenous religions are dead. The truth is that vibrant, valid, cohesive, and beautiful ethnic faith in a LIVING tradition can be found when we look to the folk traditions of a given culture. Therein thrives the Folk Faith.

Ancestor & Nature Veneration

Omni-present, but not universal-ist

Elements of Folk Faith are found universally in virtually all indigenous world cultures. However, this is NOT a "universalist" religion - as each element manifests uniquely in each respective culture.

Monotheist "revealed" religions aim to pull the individual out of their natural Ethnos (ethnic group, kinship-based clan) and unite them under one ideology. In effect, ethno-culture is trounced and the uni-faith acts as a cultural surrogate.

We believe that ALL world cultures are beautiful and worthy of existence. Folk Faith guides individuals back to full ethnic ascension by restoring the union of spirituality with ethnicity. Mono-theist universalism destroys world diversity. Folk Faith celebrates and preserves ethno-culture.
Folk Faith's elements include:
  • Ancestor veneration
  • Reverence of Nature
  • Polytheist pantheon of archetypal deities
  • Emphasis on fertility of both people and the land
  • Recognition of the turning of the year with acknowledged high days
  • Belief in reincarnation
  • Shamanic practice
  • Culturally meaningful sacred symbols
  • Culture-wide ethno-spiritual rituals at seasonal high days
  • Social emphasis on kinship as a sacred bond
  • Directive to ethnic protectionism
Virtually all indigenous ethnic cultures' native spirituality functioned with the elements denoted above. However, they will look different and unique to each ethnic group based on other factors such as race, language, regional environment/climate/topography, and so forth.

To find the Folk Faith present in your own ethno-culture, look into your people's indigenous folkways such as their ancient polytheistic pantheon, holiday customs still practiced today (if your culture was mono-theized, understand that indigenous spiritual custom/imagery was likely incorporated into much of your religious practice), and your ethnic folk tradition.
